Brands4kids, a Danish children’s fashion company recently acquired by a Dutch capital fund, is continuing its expansion with the acquisition of the Danish accessories brand Huttelihut. The acquisition will add a new area of business for Brands4kids: accessories for babies and children.
Huttelihut, founded in 2006, has built its business on knitting elephant hats and other accessories for babies and children aged 0-10. The brand has a focus on sustainability and saw significant growth in 2021, with a gross profit of more than double the previous year’s 1.47 million DKK, reaching 3.45 million DKK. The company’s net profit for the year was 1 million DKK, compared to 150,000 DKK in 2020.
Huttelihut’s sales are primarily in Denmark, Norway and Germany, but the company also has sales in other European markets, as well as in China and North America. Brands4kids will add Huttelihut to its portfolio of 12 brands and has increasingly invested in a more sustainable profile. The company has been certified under several standards, including GOTS (Global Organic Textile Standard) and OCS (Organic Content Standard), as well as Oeko-Tex.
The CEO of Brands4kids said that the acquisition of Huttelihut adds a new business area that fits perfectly with the brands they already market and the international journey they are on.
